International partnerships

Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts

In 2020 a working group with dr. Jung Kyu Canci, Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Switzerland) was launched. Other members of the group are: prof. Michael Blankenagel, Lucerne School of Business, and Philipp Mekler, strategic advisor of Roche Pharma, Basel. Gianpaolo Iazzolino leads the group, that works on topics related to strategies in R&D-intensive sectors, such as the pharmaceutical sector, and the valuation of complex investments, R&D, intangible assets and intellectual property rights. Methodologies beyond the NPV are considered. Iazzolino taught the course “Evaluating Strategic Investments and Intellectual Property” at the Lucerne University, school of Engineering and Architecture, in July 2022 dealing with the valuation of high uncertainty investments, organized for the PhD program involving the University of Basel and the Lucerne University of Applied Science and Arts.

 

Universidad Autonoma de Madrid 

Since 2022 a working group with the Universidad Autonoma de Madrid, Department of Business Organisation (prof. Maria del Mar Alonso-Almeida), led by Gianpaolo Iazzolino, was established. Maria del Mar Alonso-Almeida is currently in a visiting period at the Univerity of Calabria. The working group includes Maria Elena Bruni and Giovanni Baldissarro, EBALab members, and works on the evaluation of sustainability in tourism in the European context and the efficiency evaluation related to SDGs also from a geographical point of view.

Dr. Eleonora Pantano

EBALab has a research collaboration with dr. Eleonora Pantano (currently at the University of Bristol and previously, 2015-2019, at Middlesex University, London) on topics related to innovation performance and the use of technologies in retail. The collaboration started in 2015. Some master theses in collaboration in 2015 and 2016 were carried out with supervisors at Unical Verteramo, EBALab member, and Iazzolino. Some journal papers were published with co-authors the master candidates.

Collaboration, from 2018, with the Higher School of Economics and Business, Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, Almaty, Kazakhstan for a doctoral training program of Dinara Zhaisanova (Динара Жайсанова), PhD candidate (Iazzolino foreign supervisor). Dinara spent a period of internship at Dimeg – Unical from September to December 2018. The collaboration, that includes the EBALab member Bruni, is focused on the topics of knowledge-intensive firms in emerging economies. Dinara received her PhD in June 2022 and is currently senior lecturer at the same University
